50 years CAPRI
Manufactured from 1969 to 1986 by Ford Motor Company, the Capri was Ford’s European response to the Mustang.
Sharing the mechanics of a Cortina, the Ford Capri enjoyed the same success as its American cousin, selling more than 1.8 million all over the world during its production. Although it was the European response to the Mustang, it was so popular that North Americans also sold it, but under the Mercury brand, and touted as the sexy European. Designed by one of Mustang’s leading designers, Philip T Clark, the Ford Capri was a 1st series, intended as an affordable sports car.
In eighteen years of production, the brand has experienced three generations and was available with a range of affordable engines to meet all budgets.
